Ritesh Kumar Choudhary has joined Savoy hotel Ooty as General Manager recently. A seasoned professional with impeccable track record, Ritesh brings with him vast knowledge and experience in the hotel industry. In his new role, he will oversee complete operations and management of the hotel along with the senior leadership team.
Prior to his new assignment, he worked as the Director, Food and Beverage, at The flagship Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai. Choudhary has been associated with the Taj Group of Hotels for over a decade, during which he has worked in various capacities. Ritesh, an hotelier par excellence with over 15 years of experience comes with expertise in all departments of hospitality. He has been associated with Taj Hotels and J W Marriott hotel Juhu and The Leela Palace Chennai where he held leadership roles.
Educational assets: Born and raised in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, Ritesh did his basic schooling from Prabhat Tara School for Primary Education and higher secondary from Tirhut Academy and Langat Singh College in Muzzafarpur. Soon after completing his higher secondary; he joined Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (IHMCTAN), Dadar, Mumbai, and have completed his B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration. Soon after his graduation in hotel management from IHM Mumbai in 2004, he joined as management trainee under Taj Management Trainee Programme (TMTP) at The Taj Mahal Hotel and The Taj Palace Hotel, New Delhi. He was a part of Industrial Exposure Training at J W Marriott Juhu Mumbai, Indigo Restaurant and Bar, Mumbai, and prestigious Dubai Air Show.
Advanced education: to achieve success and nuances of management, he completed his post graduation diploma (MBA) in Business Management from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) Mumbai. He completed Food Service Management (FSM) from Cornell University and Customer Focus Program (CFP) from Harvard Business School and TATA Management Training Centre. He also completed diploma in Spanish Gastronomy at Basque Culinary Centre at San Sebastian, Spain and also completed certificate Course on Tea by Dilmah School of Tea at Colombo, Sri Lanka.
International exposure: To augment his organisational and food and beverage skills he visited many countries likeScotland, Srilanka and Spain. He did intensive training in various F&B related areas. He also learnt planning and implementing effective control measures to grow profitability of the entity and enhance luxury experiences for higher guest satisfaction with a personalised approach.
Achievements and Accolades: Ritesh is conferred with Business World-Hotelier Indian Hospitality Awards for Noteworthy Young Talent. He Introduced Pilot Project of Tajness Concept for F&B for Taj Hotels, Spearheaded Pilot Project for Elimination of Break Shift from all F&B Outlets. He was a Part of F & B Heads Delegation for Whisky Trail at Kieth, Scotland. Awarded Young Hotel Restaurant Manager of the Year 2009-2010 by FHRAI. Awardeded certificate of excellence by IHCL’s MD & CEO for successful completion of TATA Business Excellence Model.
