Tourism Minister meets Mumbai’s top wedding planners
Sri Lankan government is taking a range of initive to woo fat Indian wedding to happen at prominent destinations in Sri Lanka. Minister of Tourism of Sri Lanka, John Anthony Emmanuel Amaratunga met leading wedding planners of Mumbai at Indian International Travel and Tourism (IITT) Exhibition. Meetings were held with key wedding planners and the Indian media. Minister Amaratunga called their support to promote Sri Lanka as a wedding destination. Sri Lankan, tourism minister was in Mumbai to participate in three day exhibition of IITT. Sri Lanka tourism had a big pavilion of Sri Lanka Tourism. The event held at MMRDA grounds in Bandra from 10th to 12th January 2019.
Sri Lanka Tourism made its presence felt at the India International Travel and Tourism Exhibition in Mumbai. There was a giant stall in IITT exhibition which was prominently located near the main entrance of exhibition hall. The Sri Lankan stall was a main center of attraction and saw maximum visitors. Many cultural performances from Sri Lankan artists were also organised. The artists were especially flown down to Mumbai to participate in tourism promotion.
The initiative was aimed to attract wedding planners in Mumbai, with an aim to increase footfalls to the emerald island. India is a most attractive market. The main aim is to attract big fat wedding which are taking place in other countries. Sri Lanka wants to cash in on the coming wedding season in India and promote the country as a perfect wedding destination. The plan afoot is to wooing Indian tourists with pristine beaches, wonderful hospitality, great shopping experiences and yummy food. Tourism minister emphasised that Sri Lanka is a perfect destination for all sort of events be it a wedding, film shooting or any other event.
Tourism Minister of Sri Lanka, John Anthony Emmanuel Amaratunga Said “India is a very important tourism market for us. In Sri Lanka, we have all kinds of tourist attractions like wellness, adventure tourism, sport tourism, wild life, Buddhism sector, surfing and many more. To woo Indian tourists we are doing online visa service and also contemplating to provide free visa, so more tourists should visit. We have top brands of hotels in Sri Lanka which can cater to demand of every kind of guests. There are so many weddings taking places in Sri Lanka”.
He further added “Sri Lanka, being a immediate neighbouring country which has a long association from ancient time. We are contemplating to upgrade our airports which can cater to high growth of tourist inflow. Safety and security is of a tourist is of paramount importance for us. Although our safety and security is finest but we further wants to enhance it so a tourist can walk safely and freely at any given time, day or night”.
